I am a technologist and writer, currently living in Portland Oregon.
This website is a scattershot collection of things I've written, random ideas, interesting things I've stumbled
across, and other miscellany.
A few facts about me:
- I was born in Los Angeles, went to a lefty liberal-arts college in Massachusetts, and spent several years in New York.
- Some of my favorite films: The Rules of the Game, Sunset Boulevard, Bladerunner, Withnail & I, Ratatoille, Spirited Away, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Dead Man, Point Break
- What interests me? The way that stories shape our identities and our perception of the world. (Formally, epistemology and the narrative act.) The potential for technology to improve lives. Unexpected moments.
- I am currently involved with Temboo, a NYC-based startup developing visual programming languages for cloud-computing environments.
- My first novel, The Kingdom of Ohio, was published in 2009. It was selected for the Indie Next List and was an NPR "summer reads" pick. Kirkus called it "A marvelous fable about the worlds beneath our feet and the conspiracies that turn our heads."
